Ocean Summit: The Future of the Oceans, The Hague

We were invited to present our work at the Hague’s 2018 Ocean Summit following the final race of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The Ocean Summit was a great opportunity to bring together sport, science, government, NGO’s and the private sector in order to discuss the future of our oceans, get inspired, commit and work together.

The annual event, sponsored by the Volvo Ocean Race, was held at the Hague and brought together like-minded individuals looking to protect one of a greatest natural resources: our oceans.

  • Breakouts were organised around the following themes:
    1. Renewable energy and floating structures
    2. A path to zero emission shipping
    3. Plastic – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
    4. Bleu Sea Thinking, restoring nature
    5. Ocean management and sharing knowledge platforms
    6. First finding of the NICO-Expedition
    7. How to start a Blue Revolution
    8. Impact on Human Health
    9. Innovations for a Bleu Economy

    The Volvo Ocean Race is a yacht race around the world, the biggest offshore race in the world. It happens every 3 years, and with a journey of over 39,000 nmi (72,000 km), this race is often described as the longest and toughest professional sailing event in the world.
